Two interns start summer work at the Embassy of Latvia to the U.S.A.

On June 3, 2019, two interns signed up with the Embassy of Latvia in Washington, DC. The interns will have a possibility to assist in every day jobs, find out about the routine of diplomats and also find out more about Latvian-U.S. relations.

Ms Elza Vucāne is a sophomore at the University of Latvia, where she studies international economics and commercial diplomacy. Elza is interested in the ways that countries engage with each other economically, and how this plays out in the worldwide scene, which is what drew her to this specific academic field. Already Elza was held client service jobs. Her last job was with a Latvian business Printful (located in North Carolina and California), that supplies services used by eCommerce businesses around the world. She assisted clients from numerous nations and consequently got an insight into the world of global service management. Thanks to her language abilities, she has taken a trip to lots of countries to experience their cultures. When taking a trip, Elza seeks to do volunteer work, as she did last summertime when she remained in Washington DC, assisting to feed underserved homeowners.

Ms Māra Madara Lūse is likewise a sophomore studying law for her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Latvia. She is interested in worldwide law. Last summer she had an internship at the Latvian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development. She worked as a consultant in the Minister’s bureau. After graduation Māra Madara is planning to study international relations in Europe. In her leisure time she likes traveling with her friends to interesting locations in Latvia.

The Embassy of Latvia to the U.S.A. (in Washington, DC) uses interships to undergraduate and graduate students, along with to those who are recent graduates and would like to get useful experience. Internship can also become part of a study program. Latvian language abilities are a benefit. Strong Enlgish language abilities are required. The internship lasts for about 3 months.
