www.knme.org – KNME focuses on the work of the older artist, how his understanding grows with age and how his work modifications.
The piece includes the work of a number of popular New Mexicans painters, Frederick Hammersley and Wilson Hurley, architect, George Pearl, and sculptors, Charles Mattox and Florence Pierce.
Hammersley and Hurley both mention a knowledge that comes with age and a yearning to continually enhance one’s work.
Mattox goes over an unavoidable wisdom that includes age; it is this side to aging as an artist that he says boosts his understanding of the world and his imaginative reaction to it.
Pierce, meanwhile is a lady in love with her art. She speaks of having a dual mindset from which to derive inspiration, the side of her that has stayed ignorant, fired up and passionate, and the side of her that has actually changed with life experience.
George Pearl speaks about the various paths his work has taken control of time; he is striving always for a better product.
